The World is Changing: Have Your Organization Gained ‘Herd Immunity’ to Uncertainty?

digimers, it is time to do an “immunity to change” strategy. No, we’re not talking about COVID-19.

This term defines as instead of believing and keeping doing the same-old habits, we have instilled the mindset of changing and becoming adaptable to the changing world.

The book Immunity to Change: How to Overcome It and Unlock the Potential in Yourself and Your Organization written by Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey, the Harvard University researchers, guides us to gain immunity to change, which related to us as professional workers in this New Normal.

Leaders also need to keep the immunity to change in mind. All the improvement would be nothing if your team still lacks a mindset of changing. But, don’t worry, training and development programs that run effectively could help!

In addition, according to the book here are the five steps we can do to expand the organization’s horizon in facing the dynamics of change.

First, create the “changing” map

Why do we need a map only to change, though? The process of changing requires us to instill a constructive thoughts. Doing the things or improvements that haven’t been done previously in repeat must consume more time, more effort.

Maps will lead us to make a more clear and simple process. Even more, in an organization there must be many decisions to make and values to grow. Write down the goals to achieve, things to run, reasons to be optimized, and presuppositions to commit.

Second, experience it with assumption

After creating the map, start developing the changing with our assumption. Try imagining what ideas can you transfer to find organizational solutions. The experience enables us to understand how accelerated our assumption is, aligning with the training and development program that we’ve executed previously.

Third, get our members to involve

Remember, organization growth is on its members’ decision-changing—altogether. We know that changes of our organization demands the members’ support and their roles. They do participate in it means organization is way more important to grow, to develop. So, keep in mind that the ideas and solutions impact throughout its process.

Fourth, stay in touch with nowadays trend

Have we come to realize that trend also plays a role for our organization? Let us say in this era which made easy through digitalization, fields of job have done remote-working so far. Meanwhile, years ago working remotely rarely seems to be applied, isn’t it? By adjusting to the trend, we comprehend what developments could be adopted for our organization to enhance more growth.

So, tell us what breakthrough you gain so far through your organization’s training and development programs?
